Diamond-coated milling burs for Wescan wet milling machines, designed for machining glass ceramics including lithium disilicate (IPS e.max), feldspathic ceramic, Vita Suprinity, and Celtra Duo. Three head diameters cover roughing and finishing of single crowns, inlays, onlays, veneers, and anterior bridges. Each bur has a φ4 mm smooth shank for collet clamping.

Application

The φ2.5 mm head diameter is suited for roughing and bulk material removal. The φ1.0 mm and φ0.6 mm head diameters are suited for finishing, with φ0.6 mm intended for fine anatomical detail.

Limitations

These burs are not for milling metals, not for dry milling, and not compatible with Sirona CEREC threaded-shank interfaces.

What shank type do these Wescan burs use?

All three configurations use a φ4 mm smooth shank that is collet-clamped in the Wescan machine. This is not a threaded shank.

Use the φ2.5 mm head for bulk material removal or roughing. Use the φ1.0 mm head for intermediate shaping. Use the φ0.6 mm head for fine detail, tight occlusal anatomy, and finishing passes.

How do I know when to replace the bur?

Watch for visible loss of diamond coating, increased milling time, chipping on restoration margins, or a dull surface finish on the milled ceramic. Replace the bur when these signs appear.

Can these burs be used for dry milling?

No. These burs are specified for wet milling only, whether chairside or in the lab.
