Cylinder Bur 1.6 (TL9) suits roughing and bulk material removal. Cone Bur 12 (TL10.5) and Cone Bur 14 (TL13) suit finishing and fine detail work on glass ceramic restorations.

Limitations

These burs are not for metal, zirconia, or dry milling—only wet milling of glass ceramics on CEREC 3 and InLab Compact machines with M1.8 threaded spindles.

Frequently Asked Questions

What shank type do these burs use?

All three configurations use an M1.8 threaded shank that screws directly into the spindle of the Sirona CEREC 3 or InLab Compact. This is not a smooth collet-clamped shank.

Are these burs compatible with CEREC MC, MC X, or MC XL?

No. CEREC MC / MC X / MC XL machines use a proprietary M3.5 threaded shank. These burs are for CEREC 3 and InLab Compact systems with M1.8 threads.

Which materials can these burs mill?

They are designed for glass ceramics: lithium disilicate (IPS e.max), feldspathic ceramic, Vita Suprinity, and Celtra Duo. Wet milling is required.

How do I choose between the two cone burs and the cylinder bur?

Cone burs with longer tapered lengths (TL10.5 and TL13) suit fine detail and finishing passes. The cylinder bur with shorter length (TL9) suits bulk material removal in roughing. Select based on the milling stage required by the restoration design.

How do I know when to replace the bur?

Watch for visible loss of diamond coating, chipping or pitting on the working surface, increased milling time, rough surface finish on restorations, or unusual vibration during milling. Replace when these signs appear.

Are these OEM Sirona burs?

No. They are aftermarket burs manufactured by SINCEN Dental with the same M1.8 threaded interface and diamond coating for CEREC 3 and InLab Compact systems.

Can these burs be used for dry milling?

No. These burs are for wet milling only. Dry milling glass ceramics without coolant can damage the diamond coating and the workpiece.
